Il successo dell'iniziativa è stato riconosciuto, oltre che dai numerosi scienziati ed appassionati volontari convenuti a Trieste durante i tre giorni dell'evento, anche dalla stampa locale e nazionale, come si può leggere nei due articoli qui riportati:

The success of the initiative has been recognized by the many scientists and volunteers that have met in Trieste during the three days of the event, but also from local and national Press, as can be read in the following press clippings (in italian only):

Statistiche

All'incontro hanno partecipato circa 120 ospiti provenienti da tutta Italia, dalle vicine Austria, Croazia e Slovenia oltre che da Ungheria, Polonia, Estonia ed Inghilterra. Hanno preso parte —assieme a studenti, volontari, ricercatori e tecnici— anche noti esperti internazionali in campo erpetologico.

Nei due giorni dedicati alle conferenze ben 21 relatori hanno presentato i loro interventi, mentre 20 poster sono stati esposti e commentati in una sessione dedicata.

Al termine del primo giorno è stata organizzata una visita notturna gratuita allo "Speleovivarium" (unico museo al mondo ad esporre esemplari di Proteo, Proteus Anguinus, allevati nel loro ambiente naturale) e ad uno stagno inserito nella zona urbana di Trieste. Il terzo giorno a tutti i partecipanti è stata offerta una serie di visite guidate a stagni e zone umide della provincia di Trieste nonchè alla Riserva Naturale Regionale Foce dell'Isonzo - Stazione Biologica Isola della Cona (provincia di Gorizia).

Grazie a generose sponsorizzazioni ed alla partecipazione entusiastica di molti volontari, è stato possibile organizzare l'intero evento in modo da offrire ai congressisti, senza richiedere alcuna quota di iscrizione, i seguenti servizi:

• materiale informativo e congressuale;
• ospitalità gratuita in ostello (a richiesta);
• coffee breaks durante le attività congressuali;
• cena sociale con trasporto via mare;
• escursione guidata presso varie località di interesse naturalistico del territorio;
• creazione e gestione del sito web dell'incontro.

Statistics

The meeting has been attended by about 120 participants coming from all parts of Italy, from the neighbouring countries Austria, Croatia and Slovenia and also from Hungary, Poland, Estonia and the United Kingdom. Students, volunteers, reserchers, technicians and internationally known experts in herpetology took part in the meeting.

During the two days dedicated to conferences, 21 speakers presented their work and 20 posters were displayed in a dedicated session.

At the end of the first day a night activity has been organized, to visit the "Speleovivarium" (the only museum in the world to expose living specimens of Olms, Proteus Anguinus, grown in their natural environment) and a pond in the urban area of Trieste. The third day all participants took part in a series of guided tours in ponds and wetlands of the Province of Trieste and also to the Regional Natural Reserve "Foci dell'Isonzo" - Isola della Cona (Gorizia).

Thanks to generous sponsorships and committed collaboration of many volunteers, the whole event has been organized in a way to offer to participants, without asking any conference fee, the following facilities:

• conference printouts and info leaflets;
• free hospitality in hostel (upon request);
• coffee breaks during the conferences;
• meeting dinner with transportation by boat;
• guided tour to a number of natural sites of interest;
• creation and management of the meeting website.
